James Nash

James J. Nash is a founding partner of Nash Connors, P.C. He concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury matters, including premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, products liability, construction incidents and aviation accidents. In the course of his practice, he has represented some of the largest businesses in the country, including Bank of America, Target, Home Depot and Sears. He has successfully tried cases from routine motor vehicle accidents in state court to complex environmental litigation in federal court. The vast majority of these verdicts have been favorable for his clients. In recognition of this work, Buffalo Business First has honored him as one of its “40 Under 40,” Super Lawyers magazine has profiled him and the Buffalo Law Journal has named him on multiple occasions as one of Western New York’s “Legal Elite.” In addition, Martindale-Hubbell rated him “AV Preeminent,” the highest rating for legal ability and ethics.

Insurance companies and businesses have hired Jim to lead investigations immediately following serious accidents. Examples of these investigations include a fatal tour bus accident, an airplane crash and an amusement ride incident resulting in multiple injured patrons. He has found that these early investigations minimize the risk of litigation that typically follows such a high-profile incident.

Frequently Jim is called upon to serve as an arbitrator to help litigants resolve personal injury cases. He also regularly presents lectures to insurance companies and at continuing legal education seminars about various aspects of personal injury litigation. Jim is an active member of the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance, the Defense Research Institute and the Western New York Defense Trial Lawyers Association.

Outside of the office, Jim is very active in the legal community. He is the Vice President of the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association, which is the only organization in the Buffalo area that represents both counsel for plaintiffs and defendants.  He also served as the Chair of the Negligence Committee for the Bar Association of Erie County. Prior to that he was elected a Director of the 4,000-member Bar Association. Previously Jim served as the Town Prosecutor for Hamburg, New York, one of the largest communities in Erie County. In that role he prosecuted traffic matters, building code issues and non-criminal violations, where he used his litigation and negotiating skills to favorably resolve cases.

He has served on the Board of Directors for the BISON Children’s Scholarship Fund, an organization that offers scholarships to low-income families so their children may attend private and parochial grammar schools. He has also worked extensively with Canisius High School, where he served as the President of its Board of Governors, chaired its Distinguished Alumni Hall of Honor search committee and worked on the capital campaign committee. Jim has taken leadership roles in many fundraising efforts in the Buffalo area for educational and charitable causes. Various political campaigns have also consulted with him for fundraising assistance.

Jim attended Canisius High School, obtained his undergraduate degree in Political Science and History (with honors) from Northeastern University and later earned his law degree (cum laude) from Suffolk University Law School.

He lives in the Buffalo area with his family and is a certified scuba diver, photographer and avid golfer.
